Description
The Tank-Vent Fill Cap is designed for use on above ground storage and transfer tanks for gasoline and diesel. It can also be used for small lubricant and non-pressurized hydraulic reservoirs. The vented fill cap is designed to hold a constant tank pressure reducing evaporation loss contamination intake over expansion and contraction of the tank. Plus the vented fill cap can reduce spillage during transport. Fuel temperature in the tank rises during the day causing the contents to expand and the vapors of the fuel to escape. The process creates pressure. At night the tank cools down causing a vacuum when the contents contract drawing moist air into the tank. By maintaining a semi-closed system the amount of fuel vapors that escape into the atmosphere and the amount of moisture taken into the tank are reduced. The vented fill cap has two valves. One valve opens when the system sees 2.5 psi of pressure allowing any pressure over the setting to vent. The second valve opens at 1.5 ounces of vacuum. Any vacuum exceeding the setting is relieved by the valve opening allowing outside air to enter. The vented fill cap helps control fuel quality by keeping moisture out. It also helps reduce losses during fuel storage. The vented fill cap reduces content spills in transfer reservoirs by closing the system.
